Your Sacrum is positioned at the base of your spine. It is a common site of pain or discomfort. Quite regularly it is uncomfortable post pregnancy. The sacrum is the structure that essentially joins your lower back to your pelvis and therefore the forces upon it are considerably and it is prone to becoming uncomfortable or downright painful. SIJ pain can be a complex issue to resolve, but I can normally help and expect to see significant improvement in 3-6 treatment sessions. I will test your glute strength and give you appropriate remedial exercises.
SIJ pain is occasionally seen in young adults without any predisposing factors and although rare it can be a sign of AS (Ankylosing Spondylitis). I see several clients with AS and find osteopathic massage (I move the joints and release muscle tension) really beneficial.
Other common hip and buttocks pains that I can help with include; Piriformis Syndrome, Gluteal tendonopathy, Trochanteric Bursitis, Hip Flexor issues and groin strains.
